Crispy maple tempeh strips

This recipe only takes a few minutes to prepare and is great for people on the go.


1 240 gram (8 ounces) pack Noble Bean tempeh (sliced into thin strips ¼ inch thick)
4 tbsp cooking oil
4 tbsp water or vegetable stock
4 tbsp maple syrup
Salt and pepper to taste.

Heat up a cast iron pan or heavy sauce pan on medium heat and add oil. Lay down your tempeh strips into the hot oil using tongs. It should start to sizzle instantly.

Add vegetable stock or water and cover with a lid. This allows the tempeh to steam quickly. Keep covered for a minute.

Remove cover and turn the tempeh pieces. Drizzle the maple syrup over the tempeh, and season with salt and pepper if desired. Allow tempeh to cook for another minute or until golden brown.

Serve with breakfast or in a sandwich or wrap.
